Winners of numerous Canadian comedy awards this is a rare chance to catch them in the UK. They will be appearing with their own show on Thursday January 19th at 7.30pm and will also be a competing team in the Ken Campbell Caper Competition on Wednesday January 18th - so you have two opportunities to see them in action! Don’t miss these exceptional performers whose unique mix of comedy and dark clowning guarantees a great night out. Who’s who?Becky Johnson is a maker of things like comedy, theatre and crafts who resides in Toronto, Canada. In improv, she is probably best known as one half of lauded Toronto improv duos IRON COBRA (with Graham Wagner) and The Sufferettes (with Kayla Lorette) and as a long-time co-producer at Catch23 Improv at Comedy Bar. Theatre credits include the European premiere of Daniel MacIvor’s A Beautiful View (BeMe Theatre/Volcano) and the world then American premieres of Shiela Heti’s All Our Happy Days Are Stupid (Suburban Beast/Harbourfront Centre/McSweeney’s). Becky has been nominated for numerous Canadian Comedy Awards and has won a few. You can also see her play a bunch of gross clones in the web series Space Riders: Division Earth. Becky may or may not attract snakes. Kayla Lorette is a writer and comedian living in Toronto, Canada. She has toured extensively through Europe and North America with her comedy duo, The Sufferettes. She has been nominated for a Gemini for her performance in YTV’s That’s So Weird and won several Canadian Comedy Awards, including Best Female Improviser, Best Improv Troupe and Best Female Performance in a Webseries. She’s starred in two IPF selected webseries’: Everyone’s Famous and Space Riders: Division Earth. Kayla also wrote and starred in The Second City Project on Global TV. Most recently, her short film She Stoops to Conquer, (which she co-wrote and starred in), premier at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Live Action Short Drama.
