Hi guys! We're excited to be organising a workshop with Chicago and New York improv legend Kevin Scott. Kevin Scott is the founder of three renowned improv ensembles- Chicago's Bang Bang, Burn Manhattan, and Centralia.

These were amazing teams that really pushed the boundaries of what you could do with improv, creating wonderful free flowing shows that were organic, yet connected and mixed theatricality with physicality. But also very, very funny.

Kevin has been an educator and director for The Second City Training Center and People's Improv Theater. He's also on this episode of Scene and Heard (http://c3something.com/podcast/two-up-with-kevin-scott/) and on Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane (http://jimmycarrane.com/134-centralia/).

Some former students have gone on to TV, film and stage careers as performers, writers and producers on Saturday Night Live, The Office, Bridesmaids, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, 30 Rock and many others. And yet somehow we've been lucky enough to snag him.

## Action Improv with Kevin Scott of Burn Manhattan/Centralia
One trap improvisors fall into is the talking scene or the motionless scene. Action improve aims to take tools from various techniques and styles (including clowning, Comedia Dell'arte, Viewpoints and more) to energize and activate the players and the space. The workshop focuses on using physical exploration to inspire scenes and character choices. participants will also explore using mirror and transformation techniques within a longhorn in the style often referred to as Organic Improv.

## Comic Devices with Kevin Scott of Burn Manhattan/Centralia
Comic Devices - Improvising with structure towards a comedic story. The goal of the workshop is to provide a common language for improvisers to reference off stage and to follow while playing onstage. Going beyond funny characters and dialog towards funny scenes. Learning these comic devices will help improvisors go beyond the usual comic premises, sometimes referred to as the 'game' of the scene or the 'comic engine'. This workshop introduces players comic devices they may not have recognized before and gives a name to ones they may already know.

Concepts include: Basic scene structure, fish out of water, simple but impossible task, collision of opposites, substitution, center and eccentrics and more.
