On 20, 21 June, Amsterdam-based Canadian improviser Ryan Millar will be delivering a Guardian Masterclass on the Art of Improvisation, for non-improvisers who want to use improv techniques in their own processes.

This two-day workshop largely consists of participatory learning exercises designed to increase creative instinct and productivity. The course also includes theoretical sessions to provide historical context and insight into improvisation techniques. Topics covered include:

• Finding new ways to play
• Going deeper with improvisation
• The freedom of improvisation
• Improvising within a structure
• Applying improvisation in real-life settings
• Q&A session
